Today Sam and I had our second art class (I forgot my camera last week.). Since we decided not to put Sam in preschool this year, we've signed up for art (in addition to our regular music class and our Play Wisely class). I found a few art schools within 15 minutes of us that have Mommy & Me art classes for toddlers. We're enjoying it, but Sam's usually not interested for a full hour. Our teacher is great though, and is armed with blocks, toy animals, and books.Last week, at our first class, we painted our folders (that will hold all our art work) with watercolors. This was Sam's first experience with watercolors and he didn't quite get the whole dip in the water, then in the color, then clean the brush. What he did learn was how to rinse his brush to change colors (he spent much of the hour doing this)..."tap, tap, tap" on the bottom of the water bowl and then "pet the kitty" on the side (gently getting the excess water off the brush). Today when Ms. Brenda (our teacher) reviewed this and asked who remembered what it was called, Sam shouted out "Kitty Cat!". We all got a good laugh out of it. Today we made collages with paint (red & yellow) and colored tissue paper, and experimented with mixing the colors red and yellow.
