Ben is learning to climb, but is a little on the cautious side...not something we're used to. He loves to hear "It's bath time!" because he likes to run down the hall screaming with his brother to get to the bath. If he sees or smells food, he must have some NOW...he's not a fan of cheese...and he loves to feed himself with a fork like the big people. Daddy is, hands down, his FAVORITE person! He has a handful of words, but not many...mama, dada, uh-oh, yuck, yneayneaynea (when he sees something he wants to eat or drink...not sure where that came from) and he signs more, milk, and all finished. But even with just a few words he communicates pretty well with us and he understands so so much! He can throw a ball and kick a ball. He loves to jump...holding our hands of course...but, any up and down motion makes him giggle. He loves to slide. He knows how to get out of the way of his brother...likely the result of one too many bumps on the head. He puts EVERYTHING in his mouth!...seriously, everything!...rocks, dirt, grass, mud, sand, leaves, food crumbs, chalk, toy parts...nothing is off limits...he sucks on the pump tops of lotion bottles and soap. And he doesn't just put these things in his mouth...he eats the stuff by the fist-full! But he doesn't like cheese...weird! He loves his thumb and his blankie...nothing in the world makes him happier. He has 14 teeth...just two of his four I-teeth right now. He loves to be outside. He likes to watch birds and airplanes. He goes to bed at 6 pm and sleeps until 7-8 am...and I think the morning nap is a thing of the past. Over the last couple of weeks he's actually napped in the morning only about 3-4 times. Did I mention he's a daddy's boy? He's, oddly, not afraid of people he doesn't know well. He lets friend's mommies hold him and lets our music teacher hold him. He's gaining independence...he's not afraid to step away from me and play on his own or with others when we go places. He copies everything his brother does. He's learning his body parts...head, tongue and mouth so far, and he gets toes and nose mixed up. He knows where his shoes go and will sit down and put them on top of his feet when we're getting ready to leave the house. He's learned the phrases "put it away", "close it", and "on your bottom" VERY well...he hears them often. There are three unsafe/off-limits areas in and around the kitchen...the office, under-sink cabinet, and pantry...and any time he comes into the kitchen he makes a beeline for each one to see if any have been left opened/unlocked. He can throw a fit like a pro...head back, back arched, screaming, stiff fit...and he'll even stop to see if someone's paying attention! He looooooves his daddy!
That pretty much sums up Ben right now!
He snagged an apple off of the island a couple of days ago and learned how to eat it...
although there was a lot more sucking going on than biting...
This is such a very fun age...into everything, but in a curious and fun way. We're so loving this second baby of ours!
