Sweet Ben-
Busy! That seems to be the consensus. From your teacher at camp to the pediatrician, everyone describes you as busy. You do your best to keep up with Sam. You play just like him and aggravate him terribly when you do things like "wreck" cars and trucks and want to play with his stuff.
You're trying hard to say new words, making lots of new sounds, and actually are successful in saying a new word or two every few days to a week. You also use sounds to identify a lot of things, instead of the word for the object. You're favorite saying is, and has been for a while, "Uh Oh!"
You like order...
You hum the first two notes of the clean up song, sometimes followed by the word "up" (which sounds like "uh") when we're cleaning up toys or you hear someone say "put ___ away" or just because you want something cleaned up/picked up. You'll follow our lead and help clean up by putting a few things away, usually, followed by dumping a few baskets of toys out. One of the funniest things you do is carry pieces of clothing to the hamper in the laundry room if you see something on the floor...totally unprompted. I started to put you down for a nap the other day and there happened to be books out on your floor. You stood in bed pointing and saying, "Uh oh!" until I picked up your books and put them away...then you lied down to nap. You're pretty good at getting one thing put away when asked, even if it requires taking it to another room, but all bets are off after that one thing. You're desire to have things picked up and put away in the correct places is kind of freakishly scary-weird...and I'm not sure if this is a nature or nurture thing, but I'm pretty sure, either way, your daddy is responsible.
You recently became interested in large trucks on the road. And since you don't say truck yet, you say, "OOOOOO!!!!" Whenever you see a pick up truck, you say, "Dada dada dada."
Your appetite has decreased recently. See "busy" above. I think this has more to do with you wanting to be up playing with Sam or Tucker than it does with you not liking foods. You are a carb junkie. Pasta, potatoes, bread, crackers are your favorite things. But you also love most fruits, especially peaches, "eech" and you love nothing more than sucking on a big fat juicy peach. You've gone through a weird thing recently where you won't eat strawberries...you pick them off your plate and throw them on the floor. And you DO. NOT. like cheese. You spit it out immediately if I ever do manage to get some in your mouth...but you'll eat things with cheese in and on the them...melted cheese...and you like soft cheese, like feta. Meat, you can take it or leave it. You'll usually eat a few bites of whatever meat we serve you and occasionally will eat two servings but I do believe you could be a vegetarian if we didn't serve you meat when we eat it. Oh, and another thing you love is fish!...LOVE. IT!...always two helpings of fish.
We still have a witching hour in our house almost every evening. You want to be held most of the time while I'm trying to get dinner ready...impossible...you spend a lot of time crying and pulling on my clothes during dinner prep.
You are getting into books. If you're quiet in your room for any amount of time, it's usually because you're sitting on the floor looking at books...and making sounds like you're reading. I love watching this.
When it comes to music, you're my dancer. You clap your hands, move your head side to side, and step back and forth from one foot to the other to "dance" when you hear music. You love your music classes and often participate in the circle, if you're not following your brother around to see what he's trying to get into. I sing the Hello Song to you every morning and you love to pat your chest like we do in music class at the end of the song. Your brother likes to come into your room at night to sing a lullaby with me when I put you to bed.
At our weekly "Play" class, one of the things we do is sing the ABCs and the ABC sounds. We've been going to this class, at Sam's school, since you were 5 months old. Now that it's summer, and we're only at school for your class, you start singing your ABC sounds (ah, buh, cuh, duh) as soon as we pull into the parking lot and start getting out of the car...this makes Coach Erica VERY proud!
You love to give kisses...to everyone. Family, friends, it doesn't matter, you like to give everyone kisses. One of your favorite parts of the day is running through the house, before going to bed, to give everyone goodnight kisses.
Another of your favorite parts of the day is running through the house to the bath with Sam...screaming, squealing, silliness, rolling on the floor and racing to the bathroom...you love every minute of it and imitate everything your brother does.
You are a pretty easy going
One day when you're older and you read this, I hope you're still the same sweet, loving and happy person that you are today (with just a little more fight in you to stand up to your brother). You've added so much to our family and we all love you more than you know!
